Perth Desalination Plant

Binningup's Proposed Desalination Plant

On May 15 Premier Alan Carpenter announced the State Government's intention to build WA's second seawater desalination plant on Water Corporation land near Binningup. The $955 million plant would initially produce 45 gigalitres of water per year and is planned to begin operation by 2011. The proposal means plans to tap the Yarragadee aquifer have been shelved.

Our Mission Statement

“Desalination is an industrial process and should be in an industrial area. We don’t want it in our front garden and we don’t believe that anybody else should have it in theirs”

Take a look at our pristine coastline to the right and compare this with the picture above taken from the current Desalination Plant located on the beach at Cockburn Sound.

This is why the community of Binningup has formed the "Binningup Desal Action Group"

If you agree with our position of "no more industry on the beach" please register your name and email address on our register so that the Government of WA will start to listen to our community and the people that elected it to parliament.
